Shark Cartilage is beneficial for musculoskeletal inflammatory disease, especially rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis. It improves the balance of prostaglandins, which regulate the inflammatory process. Shark Cartilage contains substances known as chondroitins and mucopolysaccharides, which are lacking in people and animals with arthritis and connective tissue disorders brought on by stress, sports injury or age. Shark Cartilage also contains approximately 16% calcium and 8% phosphoros which are absorbed as nutrients and mucopolysaccharides that act to stimulate the immune system.
Shark cartilage is recommended particularly for performance horses whose work program and strenuous events may have caused discomfort or concussion in joints and legs, especially common in race horses.
Research has shown that immediately following a race, a large percentage of race horses exhibit signs of exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhaging (EIPH). Shark Cartilage's effect on the blood and blood vessel system has been shown to reduce the incidents of this condition. This bleeding of high performance animals, competing under stressful conditions, often leads to degenerative health conditions, lacklustre performance, and ultimately, early retirement from racing.
Exercise caution when buying shark cartilage as purity and correct processing is vital to its effectiveness. Not recommended for pregnant or nursing mares.
