Product Information

Masterfeeds Rx Roughage (pellet/cube) is a high fibre pellet or cube, which is used as a high fibre feed, and as a hay stretcher and extender at times when hay is in short supply, or for horses who struggle consuming hay due to problems with their teeth such as senior horses. Fortified with a lower level of vitamins and minerals it is safe to be fed at very high levels as a complete hay replacement when needed. Ideally however some long stem hay should be provided.

FEEDING DIRECTIONS*

Feed Masterfeeds Rx Roughage in a no hay diet at the rate of 1¼ to 1½ kg per 100 kg of body weight per day to maintain a horse in good condition under light exercise. Divide the allowance into three separate feedings daily. A working horse and growing stock will require more feed, up to 2.0 kg per 100 kg body weight daily.

Gradually remove hay over a two week period daily, according to the amount of work performed, the condition of the horse and the quality of hay.

* Feeding rates may vary depending on forage quality and horse’s activity level.
